The scale for the  modular layout  is Fn3 (1:20.3 narrow gauge). The modular is 25' x 50', which includes a 2'-6" barrier at the perimeter. The layout consists of 22 modules and features two wooden trestles. Each one is approximately 15 feet long and over 30" high. One trestle is built into a reverse curve with steel girder bridges mounted in the middle straight section. The other trestle is on one of the ends forming a curved trestle with a wooden bridge section. The modules are highly detailed from scratch built support structures and buildings down to the surrounding scenery. The scenery consists of scrubs and rocks of only a few inches tall to giant rock outcroppings several feet high and towering trees over five actual feet tall.

The zigzag track plan consists of over 235 feet of track. Since the track makes up so much of any train layout it was considered from the beginning that theirs would be part of the visual experience. Our track is all hand laid code 250 aluminum rail set on metal tie plates and individually spiked onto hand-cut wooden ties.
