The Maple Leaf Mafia
The Maple Leaf
Mafia is a group of narrow gauge modelers located in the ‘Golden Horseshoe’
area from Niagara Falls to northeast of Toronto.
The MAPLE CREEK
module is a departure from our previous efforts. In the first place, with the
run-around loop, it is a “complete” railroad. We have also attempted a town
site. Our town planner, Lex Parker, laid out the street pattern to distract the
eye from the linear nature of the benchwork. Loch McDougall, who builds models
professionally, made most of the structures from commercial kits. A few, notably
the abandoned mill and the road bridge, were scratchbuilt. The neat little
timber bridges were designed and built by Stan Parsons.
The module runs on PFM sound, but the group is gradually moving over to DCC, so
there are Tsunamis in our future!
